nerdy/techy post of the day

You should really go read this article. We are still a long way from any mainstream "Green" initiatives. The main reason (i think) is that none of these "green" alternatives are affordable. Sure, a hybrid car is a good idea and if I could get one for the same price as a non-hybrid, I would. But instead, hybrids are (in my opinion) absurdly expensive. Sure the ROI is 8 years or so...but I need the money now...i don't need it in 8 years. Recycling is a great idea, but it generally costs extra to do so. Our trash company actually gives us a $2/month incentive for recycling. We do it, but really? I need that to be more like $20 or $200 and then we'll talk about it. It's the same concept with the drought in GA. People hear that we are in a drought, but until they start charging people $200 a month for water use, nothing is going to change. I think we saw it this year with oil. The oil price finally hit the tipping point where a large number of people said "enough!". Experts are predicting that oil consumption will actually go down next year as a result.

If nothing else, this will give you something to talk about to your friends so that you sound intelligent. That's my motto...I don't actually have to BE intelligent, I just have to SOUND intelligent.

Nice post, but more importantly I don't think you ever told us the results of your poll, or even more more importantly, how you actually got your black eye
