I'll say it again. I love this band. I finally get to go see them live on Sunday and I'm pretty excited. Below is a 5 minute interview with the band and is a small glimpse as to why I like them so much. The album they just put out is personal and it's something I can relate to. Seriously...if you want to travel to Mexico, now is the perfect time. No one is there, flights are cheap and many resorts are offering a swine flu guarantee. We were just there and didn't see a single sick person...If you ask me, Mexico is getting screwed in this whole "swine flu scare".

Ok, so whether I like it or not, I've had to listen to this ridiculous news story about Miss California and all of the drama surrounding her. I'm pretty much tired of it, like I'm tired of hearing every other day that Brett Favre is returning to football. But, listening to her response...wow. I do feel bad for the girl because she probably didn't write her response and obviously can't handle all of the media attention she is getting. But really, if you believe something, own it. If she says, "I said it, I believe it, I respect those that have a different opinion, but this is what I think..." then I think everyone would move on. Instead, she stands up, talks about how she and Obama believe the same thing, how God is proud of her and how her Grandfather fought in WWII to protect her freedom of speech...? For the love. That brings me to this post. I happen to really like this piece from Keith Olbermann...it makes me wish he had never left SportsCenter...

Last night was one of the greatest games I've ever witnessed. Let me set the stage. This series is 3 games to 2 in favor of the Celtics. If the Bulls lose, their season is done. They had a 10 point lead with about 5 minutes to go when Boston went on a 18-0 run. The Bulls battled back to tie the game and put it into overtime. Then a second overtime...then a third. The game is tied with 40 seconds left and the season on the line. Paul Pierce has the ball, and this happens. At the end of the play, Noah actually yelled Yatzee really loud...

Swine-Flu

Dangerous? yes. Let's all go wash our hands now.

With all of the fear and loathing over "swine flu", a guess a few websites to read up about it are in order. My favorite (Wired Science) has links to all the others. I think my favorite though is all of the "tips" on how to avoid getting swine flu. This is taken from the CDC's website (Swine Flu and You):

What should I do to keep from getting the flu?
First and most important: wash your hands. Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Try not touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

While I realize this could become a pandemic and people are dying from it...I refuse to succumb to the paranoia over it. The above tips are what you should do to avoid any kind of sickness. While I don't believe in karma, I'll probably end up catching swine flu because I am posting about it. But come on, just be hygienically conscious and you will probably be fine.

Uh, so not sure how this goes down...but here you go. A low flying plane was seen over NY City yesterday. Of course, as soon as people saw it they were immediately freaked out and had visions of 9/11. So buildings were evacuated, people were a bit hysterical and undoubtedly confused. What was going on? Merely a glamour shoot for Air Force One. I hope Saturday Night live, the Daily show, the Colbert Report and any other comedy show has a field day with this. I mean, there are certain things that are worthy of being automatically fired (and then drug into the streets and beaten senseless): Stealing Billions of dollars from unsuspecting investors (Madoff), being an school teacher and sexually abusing a student (Newfane High School), and approving a photo shoot of a low flying plane over New York City (Wall Street Journal). I can't imagine that Obama knew about this. The man is too intelligent for that. I really really really hope he didn't know about this. Matt Lauer said it best, "I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

73 year old gets kicked off Junior College team...

That's right...you heard it. A JR college in Harriman, TN, kicked a 73 year old man off of the basketball team because he was academically ineligible...really? One might question how a 73 year old is even playing basketball for a junior college. We'll get back to that. My favorite part of this story is why he was kicked off the team: because he failed Spanish! Ha! It's hard for me to make fun of this guy, but really, if you are going to go through the effort to make the team, don't you think it would make sense to pass your classes so you can play? What is even more surprising is that this guy actually played in a game and scored. No offense to 73 year olds, but if I get crossed over by a guy 46 years my elder, I think I would flunk Spanish so that I could get kicked off of my team. Gotta love the story though...

I laughed for several minutes about this video when I saw it on TV last night. First of all...I am no soccer expert, but I'm pretty sure you aren't really allowed to stand that close to a throw in. In the event that you are...I have to think you have to smart enough not to stand that close to a throw in. Or, you've got 2 hands...use one of those to protect your face. This gives a whole new meaning to taking one for the team. The kid wasn't hurt so I have zero sympathy for him. I'm simply glad he provided me with 10 minutes of laughter as I've watched it probably 25 times...

I'm not sure whether to laugh...or cry. This is sad to see how far Ed McMahon and MC Hammer have fallen...it appears as though they are making fun of themselves (i.e. gold hip replacement), but still. On a brighter note, below that is an old school MC Hammer video...Can't Touch This! As the emotional roller coaster goes...I'm can't decide if I'm happy or sad that I still know all of the lyrics to this song...
